Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how GripLock ("the app", "we") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the GripLock mobile application. By using GripLock you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, display name, email address, and (if you have one) profile photo URL from Firebase Authentication.
• Precise location data. The app records your device's GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, accuracy, timestamp) while you are using a walking session. With your permission, location is also collected while the app is in the background or the screen is off, so we can continue tracking your walk. Location collection stops when you end the session.
• Gameplay data. Trails, conquered cells, territories, balance, and grip points you generate while playing.
• Diagnostic data. Anonymous telemetry (app lifecycle events, request latency, errors) that helps us debug and improve the app. It does not include personally identifying information beyond the account identifier.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the core gameplay features (tracking your walk, drawing your trail, closing loops, and assigning cells and territories).
• To authenticate you and synchronize your data across sessions and devices.
• To show you and other players ownership of cells and territories on the map.
• To diagnose crashes and performance issues, and to improve the app.

3. Background location

Background location is used solely to record your walking trail when the app is minimized or the screen is locked, so that a walking session you started is not interrupted. The app shows a persistent notification (Android) or a background-location indicator (iOS) while this is active. You can revoke background-location permission at any time in your device settings.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Service providers that operate our infrastructure: Google Firebase (authentication), Google Maps (map rendering), and Amazon Web Services (backend hosting and storage in eu-west-1).
• Other players, to the extent that your display name and the cells/territories you own are visible on the in-game map.
• Legal authorities, where we are required to do so by applicable law.

5. Data retention

We retain account, gameplay and location data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and the associated data by contacting us at the address below; we will delete it within 30 days unless we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Send any such request to the contact address below.

7. Children

GripLock is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (TLS in transit, access controls, authenticated APIs) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated in-app where appropriate.
